Thermal imager optris PI160 contributes to road safety

The German TV station “mdr” reported during its educational program „Plusminus“ that the thermal imager optris PI160 has been introduced as a helpful measurement device in the field of vehicle thermography.

Within seconds the optris PI160 can spot faulty tyres and damages on truck brake systems. Detecting these technical issues can greatly contribute to road safety.

On a number of occasions faulty tyres and brake systems which led to the occurrence of road accidents have not been recognized as such. The German Federal Office for Goods Transport (BAG) is therefore currently examining to what extend thermal imagers could improve effectivity of vehicle spot checks and contribute to a decrease in road accidents.
